Ms. Narumi Yoshida, Nonprofit Organization 'Sokoage'

I'm working on a project called "Granma's Recipe". In Kesennuma, there is a custom called "ochakko" (a tea party), in which grandmothers gather at their homes to chitchat. I started with the idea of verifying dishes served there and I do want them to keep this opportunity for the connect with their neighbors and friends.
I made recipes for grandma's cooking with the people who gathered for me. The gathering was very meaningful time to exchange information with other generations, so I was able to learn about the traditional culture and customs of the region. I started this project because I thought it was necessary to take advantage of traditional culture and history in order to revitalize the region, because of the decrease in population and the migration caused by the disaster.
At the time of the earthquake, we received many messages from all over the country and the world to the school I attended, and we also received the support from the people who came to the evacuation centers from all over the country and the world. Their support has made me feel a connection with the world so I received a lot of encouragement from them. I will go to university, and I want to learn something useful for the local community and do something useful activities for Kesennuma and I will return the favor to the people who supported me.
