Stories of
IWATE
The people of Iwate Prefecture, which suffered enormous damage mainly on the Sanriku coast, pledge to rebuild and walk to the future with the Requiem and the gratitude for the support from overseas.
The perfect shooting spot, Rest House Ushio

Rest House Ushio
In 1973, the rest house "Ushio" started a business in the next year that Route 45 opened the entire lines. It was a time to develop the national highways in Japan, and the wave of motorization were surging in to various places. Rest house Ushio was the so-called "drive-in". Many tourists has been visiting there and they enjoy a panoramic ocean view along the Sanriku coast from there. The rest house Ushio is currently open only during the daytime on weekdays. The rest house Ushio was able to avoid major damage even though it was on the Sanriku Coast Line, which suffered enormous damaged by the tsunami.
It is also the best shooting point to see the trains of the Sanriku Railway, are running on the coastline. Many Railway fans and photo enthusiasts come to take pictures of the trains. You can experience the nostalgic mood that as if you were traveled to the Drive-inn with a magnificent view into the 60's. We thank to the Rest House Ushio that we were able to get a lot of cooperation in order to shoot our films to show Iwate Prefecture and Sanriku Railway.
Address: 104-13 Shirai, Fushiro Village 19, Shimohei-gun, Iwate Prefecture
